According to reports, after 2.7 decades of courtroom proceedings, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal fought nearly the whole tax requirement on Harshad, his spouse, Jyoti Mehta, and his brother, Ashwin Mehta, of over $2000 crore. It is also claimed that Atur Mehta left India with his mother and has been situated there since 2002. However, it was later auctioned in 2009 and was bought by Ashok Samani, a businessman and stockbroker.
